Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
As an Engineer I, will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable building codes, and maintaining effective communication with Government Project Managers and other stakeholders.
You are required to have a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of construction practices.
Key responsibilities: Apply comprehensive knowledge and experience in construction practices, including but not limited to building codes, estimating, design, and technical writing.
Manage complex projects, supervise labor, and coordinate activities to meet project requirements.
Work closely with Government Project Managers and CORs to process change requests, requests for information, submittals, and field observation reports.
Implement security protection measures required by Government agencies.
Ensure a safe working environment in highly visible locations, incorporating site and public safety.
Minimize construction related adverse impacts to natural and cultural resources.
Represent the interests of the Government professionally, maintain quality work, and foster positive relationships with contractors and park staff.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications to be successful in the role: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction, or other related field from an ABET accredited engineering college or university; 2+ years of experience in relevant construction; OR Has 6+ years of relevant work experience in construction AND actively participating in the Engineer in Training (EIT) program in preparation for taking the Professional Engineer exam to become a registered PE; OR Has engineering work experience AND actively participating in EIT program.
Knowledgeable and experienced with construction practices, building codes, estimating, design, and technical writing.
Has prior experience working with Government Project Managers / CORs.
Prior experience with security protection measures required by government agencies.
Knowledgeable of computer programs such as Primavera Project Planner (P3) Schedules, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project Must be able to work in a highly visible location incorporating site safety and safety of the public.
Must possess people and communication skills.
Must be able to meet physical requirement of the position, hike up to 10 miles/day with up to 4 miles in elevation difference.
Must be able to work in remote locations with limited logistics and communications.
Knowledge and experience with aviation operations for construction activities.
Knowledge and experience with NPS Environmental and Cultural Resources and compliance.
