Coconino County Public Works is seeking EIGHT Operator I/II positions.
Five positions are located in Flagstaff and three positions located in Williams.

Under limited supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in the operation of various mechanical equipment; performs related work as assigned.
Typical Duties TYPICAL DUTIES (Illustrative only) OPERATOR LEVEL I/II: Operates various mechanical equipment Performs inspection and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, building, and facilities Participates in construction/maintenance projects Keeps records and equipment documentation Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch (finger dexterity) working with equipment.
Environmental conditions include but are not limited to working in an outdoor environment high majority of time which includes exposure to cold, heat, moisture and humidity; exposure to vehicle noise and vibration.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: OPERATOR LEVEL I: Two years of experience operating equipment appropriate to position under field conditions OR, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have an Arizona CDL Class B with Tanker Endorsement and maintain it throughout employment.
Must acquire basic work zone traffic control/flagger training, along with MSHA certification within the first year of employment.
Block One training shall be completed, along with additional training Block Two as outlined in CCPW Internal Training Development Plan.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: OPERATOR LEVEL II: Three years of experience operating equipment appropriate to position under field conditions OR, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have an Arizona CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement and maintain it throughout employment.
Must acquire basic work zone traffic control/flagger training, along with MSHA certification within the first year of employment.
Block Two training shall be completed, along with additional training Block Three as outlined in CCPW Internal Training Development Plan.
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 7 years' experience in road maintenance, snow removal, and be capable of operating truck/trailer, loader, backhoe and other equipment.
Preferred Qualifications include good communication skills, and experience operating a variety of road maintenance equipment including a loader, backhoe, roller, and snowplow truck.
Please Note: Positions are non-exempt from overtime Positions are safety sensitive Requires working various 12-hour snow shifts May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs Responds to emergency situations Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Considerable knowledge of: - Laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to equipment operation - Occupational hazards and safety precautions - Procedures and practices used in construction and maintenance operations - Inspection and preventive maintenance practices applying to mechanical equipment Skill in: - Operation of assigned equipment under field conditions - Use of hand and power tools Ability to: - Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays - Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds - Work extended hours in a variety of weather conditions - Recognize hazardous conditions and react appropriately - Prepare and maintain records and reports - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public - Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety.
