Road legal factory race bike produced in limited numbers as a "homologation" special to qualify for World Superbike Racing.
2006 was the last and best year for the 999R.
There were only an estimated 300-400 of these made in the world! The bike is identical to the Xerox edition except for the graphics.
Do not confuse a Ducati "R" bike with an "S" or standard version.
They are vastly different.
The 999R motor has titanium valves and con rods, different cams and bore/stroke compared to the non-R bikes, carbon fiber fairings, forged alloy wheels, magnesium valve covers and headlight mount, high end Brembo brakes and Ohlins suspension.
Other modifications include adjustable clipons to make the riding position more comfortable (factory clipons included), vented clutch cover (original included), wired for radar detector with RAM mount attached (easily removed), TechSpec tank grip pads, Zard full racing exhaust system with the ECU re-flashed for the race exhaust by Brian Sharp at Boulder Motor Sports Ducati racing
department.
Brian is a Ducati factory trained technician and runs BMS Racing Ducati race team.
The bike runs incredibly strong and smooth! Stock exhaust in perfect condition is included.
Also included are replacement left and right side fairings and nose fairing all factory original full carbon fiber in excellent condition, value somewhere around $6,000 or more! Spare keys and red programming key included.
This bike was never raced or tracked, never crashed or damaged in any way.
Consistent meticulous maintenance.
I bought this bike from Raffaele Conti, Ducati Master Technician at Faster Twins in Falls Church, VA, a few years ago, with 1000 miles! He maintained it and went through it thoroughly at the time of sale and it has been fantastic.
