Job description
The Aircraft Base Radio Operator (ABRO) serves as a member of an aircraft base staff, coordinating with the Air Ops Director in assisting the aviation team in the performance and completion of aircraft missions and to ensure the safety of all aircraft traffic within the Grand Canyon project location.
They will work alongside the Government’s ABRO, during Contractor aviation operations, to maintain safe aviation operations when multiple aircraft are flying within/near the same area.
This position is project specific for the Grand Canyon Project, at this time, permanent employment after the 4-5+ year project is uncertain.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but not limited to:
ABRO duties include:
Assist supervisor in ensuring operational readiness of aircraft base.
Work alongside with the Government’s ABRO when multiple aircraft are in the air within/near the vicinity of each other.
Check functionality of assigned radios prior to daily operations.
Operate multiple radios (AM, FM, VHF), simultaneously.
Verify radio frequencies daily with supervisor and notify them if additional frequencies are needed.
Ensure (all necessary) daily forms/logs have been completed and submitted to the Air Operations Director once the daily flight operations have been completed.
Flight follow aircraft using the identified procedures/software and maintain a dispatch log of aircraft takeoffs, estimated time of departure (ETD), souls on board, and flight route check-ins.
Identify, analyze, and use relevant situational information to make more informed decisions and take appropriate actions (i.
e.
potential aircraft hazards, ETC.
).
Responsible for all logistical support for the Helibase.
(water, meals, sanitation, garbage, dust abatement if needed, shipping, receiving and storage of material at the Helibase, etc.
)
Performs entry-level incident management tasks, contributing to team mission accomplishment and performance

Communicate and Coordinate:
Communicate using ICS terminology and clear text.
Obtain daily or more frequent briefings from supervisor.
Follow established processes and chain of command for collecting, producing, and distributing information.
Communicate changing conditions to supervisor.
Participate in daily briefing and/or functional area briefings and After Action Review (AAR).
Provide HP Helicopters with information of FAA correspondence.
Provide communication support to team members.
Maintain daily FAA and HP Helicopters logs.
Acquire and post necessary materials and documents in the work area for reference.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Ability to apply creativity and problem-solving skills in troubleshooting work.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written, oral, and active listening.
Must be a team player with excellent crew resource management skills and strong leadership.
Able to work in a fast-paced or high-pressure environment, and in various weather conditions.

NIMS an Introduction (IS-700) Certificate (Preferred)
Basic Air Operations (S-270) Certificate (Preferred)
Helicopter Crewmember (S-271) Certificate (Preferred)
Introduction to ICS (I-100) Certificate (Preferred)
Basic ICS (I-200) Certificate (Preferred)
Experience:
