Job Description The Administrative Services Assistant, Senior for Patient Services at Campus Health Services manages the front office operations and provides administrative support for Patient Services.
The position requires a variety of advanced office/administrative skills related to the work unit; the ability to analyze and respond to administrative matters within established limits to ensure the departments needs are being met and that the CHS policies and procedures are being followed.
This position is expected to communicate regularly with the Manager of Patient Services.
Administrative - 45% Manage front office operations.
Assist with hiring and training of new staff and student workers.
In absence of Manger, will be responsible for managing Patient services, ensuring adequate coverage for Patient Services and clinic, and make changes to accommodate clinic needs.
Assist Manager with building provider schedule.
Responsible for maintenance of office equipment.
Responsible for supply order.
Provide support to all of CHS staff as needed Patient Registration - 35% Schedule Patient appointments for Campus Health Services.
Assist patients with check-in and completing appropriate paperwork.
Update confidential patient information.
Verify accuracy of patient’s insurance information and entering in patient chart.
Enrolling students into Louie Care and Student health insurance.
Assist patients with check-out and appropriate payment.
Assist in scheduling patients who may be walking-in for a same-day appointments or urgent care clinic.
Customer Service - 15% Maintain superior customer service skills.
Screen telephone calls for Campus Health Services to include documenting accurately messages in the electronic health record.
Receiving and posting payments.
Provide parking access to patients.
Handle customer queries.
Other duties as assigned - 5% Minimum Qualifications High School Degree OR Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications Four years of increasingly responsible office/administrative experience.
Experience in a medical setting Experience with Electronic Health Record Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned functions.
Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
Skill in both oral and written communication Skill in operation of a variety of office machines.
Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
Ability to display consistent, positive communication and customer service skills Organizational skills Ability to multi-task.
Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
Background Information This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position.
Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.

The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act.
The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus.
In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing.
This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

Salary Salary range starts at $41,000.
Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy.
Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.
Benefits This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.

Classified Staff employees are in a probationary status for their first six months at NAU.

Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits.
