Job Description The Financial Oversight Analyst Senior position will act as part of the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Financial Team.
Acting as the main financial support for the Departments of English and History.
This role will assist in managing academic unit budgets, financial policy compliance and providing guidance to CAL staff on financial matters.
The selected incumbent will be expected to perform financial research, provide assistance on grant related duties and will report directly to the Assistant Director, Financial Oversight in the CAL Dean’s Office.
Financial Guidance & Compliance - 50% Assist in managing and controlling accounting, budgeting, auditing, and other financial or related functions to ensure financial integrity for CAL academic/auxiliary units.
Control expenditures in accordance with budgeted amounts; reviews and authorizes purchase of supplies, services and equipment within limits set by Department Chairs Advise staff on financial matters.
Keep informed of, interpret, and apply pertinent rules, regulations, policies and procedures set forth by university or outside governing agencies.
Participate in internal and external audits; prepare audit work papers.
Assist department staff and faculty in interactions with the financial service teams.
Review NAU purchasing card transactions.
Research & Analysis - 35% Gather, analyze, and model various scenarios related to department expense tracking to make recommendations or decisions to department management to improve the operations of the unit and college.
Performs research and analysis to provide administration with financial data and recommendations to the CAL Assistant Director, Financial Oversight.
Research, analyze and make recommendations regarding resource needs for staff, capital equipment/improvements, supplies and services considering budget limitations.
Grant Compliance - 10% Assist grant Principal Investigators with budget preparation, purchasing and hiring requests to ensure compliance with terms of the grant.
Respond to inquiries and requests from Post Award Accounting Services and Fiscal Compliance.
Other - 5% Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
3-5 years of accounting or finance experience.
A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in accurate record keeping and attention to detail.
Experience in meeting multiple deadlines under time pressure.
Higher Education financial accounting and budget planning experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Advanced knowledge of financial oversight and operations tools, procedures, processes, policies, and concepts; such as payroll management systems and budget analysis projects, as well as such as expense tracking, and trend analysis.
Knowledge of financial reporting in higher education and university budgeting practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Skill in financial modeling.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
Prepares detailed reports on a timely basis.
Analyzes complex situations and anticipate issues.
Balances competing priorities.

This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
